Subhadra Yojana: ‘Subhadra Yojana’ is an ambitious scheme of the Odisha government. This scheme is designed to empower women economically. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Subhadra Yojana’ on his birthday on September 17, 2024 with the aim of empowering women in Odisha. The scheme aims to provide assistance to more than 1 crore women between the ages of 21 and 60.
This scheme is named after Goddess Subhadra, who is the sister of Lord Jagannath. Jan Dhan bank accounts will help in making the Subhadra scheme a success. Under this scheme, eligible women will be given a total amount of ₹ 50,000 in five years starting from the financial year 2024-25. Registration for this scheme has started from September 1. Under this scheme, the assistance amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts linked to the Aadhaar of the beneficiaries.
What is Subhadra Yojana?
‘Subhadra Yojana’ is an ambitious scheme of the Odisha government. This scheme is designed to empower women economically. Who is Eligible for Subhadra Yojana:
This scheme will benefit those women who are economically weak. Women who are from rich families, are government employees, or pay income tax will not be eligible under this scheme.
When will the installments be released:
This amount will be given every year in the form of ₹ 10,000, which will be transferred in two equal parts to their bank accounts linked to Aadhaar. This assistance will be given in two installments of ₹ 5,000 on two major occasions in the year: the first installment will be given on Rakshabandhan (Rakhi Purnima) and the second installment will be given on International Women’s Day (March 8).

How to apply for Subhadra Yojana:
The registration process for Subhadra Yojana is easy and digital. You can follow the steps given below to register in this scheme-
- Online portal: Visit an official portal for Subhadra Yojana.
- Registration: Fill in your personal details like name, address, age, Aadhaar number and bank account details in the registration form.
- E-KYC: Complete e-KYC.
- Required documents: Upload required documents like Aadhaar card, bank passbook or bank account information, and residential certificate.
- Verification and approval: After submitting the form and documents, your application will be checked and verified.
- Subhadra Debit Card: After successful registration, you will be issued a ‘Subhadra Debit Card’ through which you will be able to access the financial assistance amount.
Approval received from the cabinet
After getting approval from the state cabinet, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi announced the scheme in the assembly. Mohan Charan Manjhi said that on August 22, 2024, the state cabinet approved the Subhadra scheme. The cabinet has decided that the ‘Subhadra’ scheme will be implemented from the current financial year 2024-25 to the financial year 2028-29.
Subhadra Debit Card
Chief Minister Manjhi said that women will also get ‘Subhadra Debit Card’ to promote digital transactions in rural and urban areas. Out of the beneficiaries of this scheme, 100 beneficiaries doing digital transactions will be identified and they will also be given an additional incentive amount of Rs 500. Apart from this, a call center will also be started for the scheme. The implementation of the scheme will be monitored under the Women and Child Development Department.
