Types of QR Code

1. Static QR Code
Static QR codes are static. They are not edited once generated. That is, the information present in them cannot be changed. That is why they are called Static QR Code. 2. Dynamic QR Code
Dynamic QR codes are dynamic. That is, the information present in them can be changed. And can be updated repeatedly. For example, if you want to change the price of a product after generating its QR Code! Then you can do it easily. That is, the new price gets automatically updated in the QR code. And there is no need to print the QR code again.
Variants of QR Code
There are many variants of QR code. Because over time its design and specifications have changed a lot. And there have been many improvements. That is why today QR codes of different colors and designs are seen. But the question is what do these variants mean? Let’s know The Variants of QR Code :-
Model 1
This is the oldest and original QR code. It is also called the prototype of Model 2 and Micro QR Code. Because both these variants are extensions of Model 1. Although it looks similar to Model 2, it lacks alignment pattern. The largest version of Model 1 is 14 (73×73 modules), which can store a maximum of 1167 numerals.
Model 2
This is an improved version of Model 1. And the term QR Code that you use today is used for this. It contains alignment patterns, which help in reading the distorted image by reducing distortion. Its largest version is 40 (177×177 modules), which can store up to 7089 numerals.
Micro QR Code
This is a smaller version of QR code, which can store only up to 35 numerals. It has only one position detection pattern. Due to which its size is very small. It is an ideal QR code for applications that have space constraints. Such as components of a circuit board.
IQR Code
This is a Matrix Type 2D Barcode, which can be printed in both Rectangle and Square Shapes. It has many versions. If we talk about Square IQR, then its 61 versions (minimum 9×9 modules) and Rectangle IQR has 15 versions (minimum 19×5 modules). That is, it can be easily printed even in the smallest space.
IQR Code is capable of storing maximum data in minimum space. Its maximum storage capacity is 40,000 numeric characters (422×422 modules). Which is many times more than the largest version 40 of Model 2. Also, its error correction rate is also very high (50%). Due to which the code can be scanned even after half the code is damaged.
Frame QR Code
There is an empty space in the center of this QR code, which is called QR Code Frame. Mainly texts, images and graphics are arranged in this frame. But it is not limited to just text, images and graphics. It can also be used in different types of designs and white spaces.
Secure QR Code (SQRC)
This is a secure QR code, which keeps the data present inside it safe with a cryptographic key. And restricts all those devices, which try to access the data. For this, it has a private data segment, which is decrypted with the help of an encryption key. It helps in keeping personal information safe. Especially, it helps in keeping the internal data of companies limited to the people of the company.
However, SQRC Code is not limited to private data only. It is also used for public information. But encryption is not used for this. Because this is an option, which is for especially sensitive information. SQRC Code was developed by Forus Foundation for secure transactions.
HCC2D
HCC2D means High Capacity Colored 2 Dimensional Code. That is, high capacity colored 2D code. This is actually a Color Matrix Code developed by researchers. Which is currently in the Prototype Phase. It uses colors to increase data density. But due to this, Chromatic Distortion is faced during decoding. And to avoid this problem, HCC2D code uses an additional field (Color Palette Pattern).
JAB Code
JAB means Just Another Barcode. It is a coloured QR Code, which is made of a combination of coloured squares within a rectangular or square grid. It has 4 or 8 colours. Out of which 4 are primary colours (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) and 4 are secondary colours (Blue, Red, Green and White). Since colours add a third dimension to a two-dimensional matrix. That is why JAB Code can store more data than black and white codes.
If seen theoretically, its 4 colour code is capable of storing 2 times more data and 8 colour code is capable of storing 3 times more data. But JAB Code is not licensed yet. Although it was presented for ISO Standardization. But the process of standardization is still in processing. And currently it is published under LGPL v2.1 License.
QR Code Versions
While talking about QR Code Variants above, QR Code Versions were mentioned repeatedly. But the question is what are these QR code versions? And what is their use? Also, how many versions of QR code are there? And which ones? Let’s know.
First of all, let’s talk about the number of versions. So there are a total of 40 versions of traditional QR code. And each version has a different number of data modules. That is, the higher the version number, the higher will be the number of data modules. And the higher the number of data modules, the higher will be the storage capacity of the QR code.
